Celebration Theatre presents, in association with The Aliiance of Los Angeles Playwrights, as part of its New Works Reading Series, The Incredible Life and Wondrous Adventures of the Amazing Fabulous Fredby Dan Berkowitz, directed by Alan Wethern and performing one night only on Tuesday, August 14 at 7:30pm at Celebration Theatre @ The Lex, 6760 Lexington Ave. in Hollywood.
THE INCREDIBLY LIFE AND WONDROUS ADVENTURES OF THE AMAZING FABULOUS FRED follows Fred, a gay insurance salesman and world-class hypochondriac. But under his nerdy exterior beats the heart of a fabulist, with fantasies of flying secretly to England to meet his real mother the Queen... joining a Mexican cult which celebrates vegetables... and cross-dressing so no one notices by wearing his evening gown under his suit.
When Fred is diagnosed with a disease so rare only other hypochondriacs have heard of it, he must confront a surreal health care system, skeptical friends, and lovers. After an excruciating death, Fred returns from The Other Side to let us know that love is what really drives the universe. It's comedy, it's drama, it's magical realism, it's vaudeville... and a little Monty Python too...
