The highly acclaimed Los Angeles concert series TRIPLE THREAT starts its 2015 season on Monday Feb 16 in its new home at The E Spot in Studio City. Now in its second year, Michael-Leon Wooley will once again be the host and creative force behind the series that showcases the best of Broadway as performed by "triple threat" Broadway performers who are now living and working in L.A.
The first concert on Monday, February 16 will be a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids and will feature performers who are veterans of the hit musical Wicked. Joining Mr. Wooley as co-host will be Chandra Lee Schwartz who is currently starring as "Glinda" at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. Other performers include Amanda Jane Cooper, Rhett George, Kevin McMahon, Shelia Karls, Cassie Okenka, Luis Figueroa, Stephanie Brown and more. All performers are from the cast of Wicked, currently at the Pantages Theater or veterans of the Broadway company. The February 16 show will inaugurate the E Spot Lounge at Vitello's, 4349 Tujunga Avenue in Studio City, CA. The E Spot is L.A.'s newest music venue and owned by world renowned recording artist Shelia E. Formally Upstairs @Vitello's, E Spot has been transformed with a new stage including state of the art lights and sound, designed by the artful Sheila E. To cement the merger of E Spot with Triple Threat, Michael-Leon Wooley has also been named Artist-in-Residence and will bring his special brand of showmanship and plentiful influence with Broadway performers to make TRIPLE THREAT 2015 a must for musical theatre and jazz fans throughout the area.
The TRIPLE THREAT set is designed by two-time Emmy award winner, Robert Lee. TRIPLE THREAT's 2014 roster of Broadway Performers on the west coast total over 100 Broadway credits with artists Elaine Marcos, Sharon Wilkins, Nicole Parker, Eric Petersen, Lynette DuPree, DeeDee Magno Hall, Lisa Datz, Rhett George, Carla Renata, Jessica snow Wilson, Noah Weisberg, and more. TRIPLE THREAT is produced by Michael-Leon Wooley and Miller Tai. 2015 is poised to feature even more talent at the E Spot. Multi-talented actor/singer, MICHAEL-LEON WOOLEY is best known to audiences as the voice of the jazz singing/trumpet playing "Louie the Alligator" in the popular Oscar nominated Disney animated film THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG. He has also appeared in the films DREAMGIRLS, GHOST TOWN, and PREMIUN RUSH. He plays leads in 2 upcoming animated features HEROES and SAVVA, HEART OF THE WARRIOR which also stars Whoopi Goldberg and Sharon Stone. On Broadway, Michael-Leon is best known as the voice of "Audrey 2." the man eating plant in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.
