Renowned Jazz & Blues Singer, Barbara Morrison, will present the 1st Annual California Jazz & Blues Museum Hall of Fame Inductee Ceremony Fundraiser and Barbara Morrison's Birthday Celebration Concert at Catalina Jazz Club, 6725 West Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, CA 90028 on Monday, September 10, 2018 kicking off with a Red Carpet Arrivals and Reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Inductee Ceremony at 7:00 p.m., culminating with performances by singer Barbara Morrison, the Karen Hernandez Trio, and singers Angie Mack and Monica Doby at 8:30 p.m.
Aside from her prolific career as a legendary Jazz & Blues Singer, Barbara Morrison also serves as the Founder and President of the California Jazz & Blues Museum, which she opened in Leimert Park, CA in 2017 to house artifacts of California Jazz & Blues musicians. Morrison said, "The 1st Annual California Jazz & Blues Museum Hall of Fame Inductee Ceremony is a fundraiser for the Museum to develop our digital arts program, so we can introduce basic coding, Android development, organizational structures, basic computer competencies and create an interactive section in the Museum which will give visitors an open source digital portal to the vast historical collection of Jazz & Blues available at the Museum and throughout Los Angeles. Our goal is to raise $25,000.00. Our Inductee Ceremony will recognize local, national and international Jazz & Blues legends for their contributions to the music industry."
The Inductee Ceremony will be co-hosted by Jay Jackson ("Parks & Recreation," Former Emmy Award-winning reporter for CBS2/KCAL9) andAlbert Edmund Lord III (Deputy, Office of City Council President Herb J. Wesson Jr.). H.B. Barnum, Aretha Franklin's Music Director of 25 years, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. 25 Additional Induction Ceremony Honorees for 2018 will include: Helen Borgers (Jazz DJ/Classical Pianist, posthumous award to be accepted by her brother Ken Borgers); Mike and Carol Gliona (Blues Promoters); Corky Hale (Jazz Harpist, Singer and Pianist); Billy Higgins (Jazz Drummer, posthumous award to be accepted by his nephew Billi Redd); Linda Hopkins (Tony Award-winning Actress, Blues Singer, posthumous award to be accepted by Maxine Weldon who appeared on Broadway with Linda Hopkins in "Black and Blue"); KJAZZ Radio; William "Bill" Liston (Arranger, Composer, Band Leader, Saxophone, Film Scorer); John McClure (Promoter, Producer, West Coast Jazz Party); Billy Mitchell(Jazz Pianist); Ronald and Mara New (Jazz Promoters, Producers and Management); Michael and Lucy Peak (Bass, Jazz Promoters); Bernie Pearl (Blues Guitar, Singer); Bobby Rodriguez (Trumpet, Educator); Joe Rothman (Jazz Promoter, Producer, West Coast Jazz Party); Bill Selditz (Jazz Drummer, Producer); Richard Simon (Bassist, Educator); Jimmy Smith (Jazz Drummer); Sweet Baby J'ai (Jazz Singer); Kevin Toney (Pianist, Arranger, Producer);Dwight Trible (Jazz Singer); Al Williams (Jazz Drummer/Jazz Concert Promoter) and Dr. Lance Williams (Blues Historian).
