California Repertory Company (CSULB Theatre Arts Department) presents the new play A Live Mixtape written by Long Beach native and CSULB alumna Tahirih Moeller. Tahirih was a student of the award-winning playwright Patricia Loughrey who wrote Dear Harvey, produced by Cal Rep in Fall 2018. It is a particular honor to have both teacher and student produced in the same season!

A Live Mixtape captures the voices and the struggles of the community. Artistic Director Jeff Janisheski says, "It's brave and bold writing that tackles big ideas about her local community, the issues pressing on her generation, and about life as a black woman in the US."

Tahirih Moeller was recently featured in American Theatre Magazine's article 6 Theatre Workers You Should Know. She received second place for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival's Hip Hop Theater Creator Award for A Live Mixtape. Moeller is also the co-founder of the non-profit Up & Coming Actors where she has written and produced seven one-acts. A workshop production of her play Heroes of the West, co-written with April Brewster was recently produced at Long Beach Playhouse. Janisheski says, "she is a vibrant new voice in American playwrighting."

Bruce A. Lemon., Jr is the Artistic Director of Watts Village Theater Company and is directing A Live Mixtape. He is an actor, director and radio host who works to reimagine his community through his work. He has worked with numerous theatre companies in LA including LA Opera, Son of Semele, Company of Angels, Illyrian Players and many more.
