Cabrillo Music Theatre, the Ovation Award-winning Resident Musical Production Company of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, is proud to announce that all performances of Happy Days, A New Musical will be dedicated to the memory of Tom Bosley. At an Opening Night reception, Producer Garry Marshall and musical icon Paul Williams will pay tribute to this great man of television, film and theatre. Also there to celebrate and pay tribute will be Producer Arnold Margolin, Writer/Producer Ed Scharlach, Actor Scott Baio ("Chachi"), Actress Cathy Silvers ("Jenny Piccalo"), at a VIP reception prior to the Opening Night Performance of Happy Days, A New Musical, on Friday, October 22 beginning at 5:30pm. Additionally, Mr. Marshall will address the opening night audience with some thoughts and remembrances of the wonderfully talented "Mr. C."
"As we were preparing to launch our new season at Cabrillo with the wonderful production Happy Days, A NEW MUSICAL, it broke all of our hearts to hear of the passing of everyone's favorite TV father, Tom Bosley," said Carole W. Nussbaum, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cabrillo Music Theatre. "We have decided to dedicate all our performances in his honor and memory, and to celebrate the life of this legend of stage, screen, and of course television, with his co-stars and creators of this iconic show."
Scheduled to join Garry Marshall (5-time Emmy nominated creator of "Happy Days," "Laverne and Shirley," "Mork and Mindy," and "The Odd Couple;" the director of films "Pretty Woman," "Runaway Bride," and most recently "Valentine's Day;" and writer of Happy Days, A New Musical) and Paul Williams (Academy Award Winning composer, member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, 2-time Golden Globe Winner, 2-time Grammy nominee, and composer of Happy Days, A New Musical) are: Arnold Margolin (Producer, Screenwriter, and Director; most notable credits include, "Love, American Style," including the episode "Love And The Happy Days," the precursor to the television series); Ed Scharlach (Writer and Producer for original series; Producer of "Mork and Mindy;" worked with Arnold Margolin on the "Love American Style" episode, "Love And The Happy Days"); Scott Baio ("Chachi" from the original "Happy Days" series; "Charles in Charge"; "Diagnosis Murder"; "Bugsy Malone"); and Cathy Silvers ("Jenny Piccalo" from the original "Happy Days" series).
Also expected to attend are George Shapiro (Emmy Award-winning Executive Producer of "Seinfeld"), four-time Emmy nominated actor Fred Willard ("Best in Show," "Everybody Loves Raymond"), and Bob Bergen (voice of "Porky Pig").
The Happy Days Reception will take place on Friday, October 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Founders Room of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza at 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Thousand Oaks. The Opening Night performance will begin at 8:00PM. Happy Days, A NEW MUSICAL features a book by Garry Marshall, and music & lyrics by Paul Williams.
Happy Days, A NEW MUSICAL runs for two weeks only, continuing through Sunday, October 31st. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30PM (note this new time), Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00pm. A post-show discussion with cast, staff and audience will follow the Saturday, October 23rd, 2:00pm performance.
