Bull and Bearer Theatre Company's inaugural production considers stupidity of life in the theatre. Theresa Rebeck's searing comedy The Understudy, opens on February 10th at the Art of Acting Studio in West Hollywood. Performances continue through February 18th. The Understudy reveals the inner-workings of the theatre and examines the beauty and futility of the theatre artist.
Harry has arrived for his first rehearsal of a Broadway run of Franz Kafka's undiscovered masterpiece. But Harry will never perform. Harry is an understudy. And as far as Stage Manager/former flame Roxanne and action star-turned-Broadway star Jake are concerned, Harry is less than an actor. He's so low, he doesn't even exist. The rehearsal derails spectacularly as sparks fly between the trio.
Featuring Sean Cowhig as Harry, Andria Kozica as Roxanne and Justin Michael Terry as Jake.
The creative production team for the production lighting design by Ray Jones, costumes by Krystle Conrad, stage management by Rachael Johnson and directed by Dana Martin.
The Understudy runs Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Feb. 10th - 18th. Tickets are $15 and can be found at plays411.com/understudy. The Art of Acting Studio is located at 1017 North Orange Drive, Los Angeles, 90038. For more information, please contact Bull and Bearer Theatre Co (bullandbearertheatreco@gmail.com).
