An all star cast of Broadway veterans will lead a tribute to Oscar, Emmy, Grammy & Tony winning composers Kander & Ebb at Ryan Black's 88's Cabaret AIDS Walk fundraiser on Monday August 16th at 8pm in Beverly Hills at Gonpachi Restaurant.
Kander & Ebb are the super star composers of such hits as Cabaret, Chicago, Zorba, Kiss of the Spider Woman and the Manhattan anthem New York, New York. Leading the cast of over a dozen of Broadway stars are 2009 Emmy nominated actress ShaRon Lawrence (who starred on Broadway in K&E's Cabaret and Chicago) and Tony Winner for Paul in A Chorus Line's Sammy Williams who also starred in another K&E show on Broadway called A Happy Time. Mr. Williams will conclude the show with a Q&A session lead by 88's host & producer Ryan Black."Sammy is the perfect combination of a performer for the message we are trying to accomplish with this night. Not only did Sammy work on Broadway with these legendary composers that we want to celebrate, but he also worked with Broadway Director & Choreographer Michael Bennett who unfortunately passed away due to AIDS." said Ryan Black who has hosted and produced 88's for the last 3 years. "88's is committed to this cause and we've already raised $2,600 for our AIDS Walk team!"
Others scheduled to perform at this one night only event are Broadway vets Ruth Williamson (Les Miserables, Guys&Dolls), Jennifer Leigh Warren (Little Shop, Big River), Jennifer Shelton (Ragtime), Pam Trotter (The Color Purple, Hairspray), Paulette Ivory (FELA, The Lion King), Cortes Alexander (Liza At The Palace), Jeffrey Landman (Les Miserables), and many more.Limited seats are $15 cash purchased at the door and are only available to those with a dinner reservation by calling Gonpachi at (310) 659-8887.
