VOICES IN MY HEAD: A LIFE, a live theatrical performance starring Bill Ratner has been selected "Best of Hollywood Fringe 2012" for an extended run August 4 & 18 – 7:30PM at Theatre Asylum Lab.
VOICES IN MY HEAD: A LIFE traces the strange path that led Bill Ratner to become the disembodied voice of a generation. This tragi-comic true story tells how a middle-class orphan liberated by a crystal radio set, discovers the shadowy world of voiceovers through a series of rude awakenings to the perplexing power of electronic imagery in a media-mad nation and encounters an evil wicked stepmother, the mystery of the voice, the thrill of thievery, the magic of big RCA microphones, the wonder of family, the tragedy of loss, the triumph of irony and chance…with Betty Crocker and a Russian video producer thrown in for laughs. With music by guitarist Vince White of the L.A. blues band Idle Hands and riotous storytelling weaving love, loss, delinquency, and unforgettable encounters with characters ranging from Betty Crocker to The Lobster Man from Mars, VOICES IN MY HEAD: A LIFE is a moving delight.
Bill Ratner's stories are featured on National Public Radio (The Business, Good Food.) He is the voice of movie trailers (The Campaign, Casa de mi Padre, The Rum Diary, MegaMind, etc.,) documentaries on Smithsonian Channel, Discovery, History, the voice of "Donnel Udina" in Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3, and "Flint" on the original G.I. Joe, Robot Chicken, and Family Guy.
