When the annual NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchants) gets underway at the Anaheim Convention Center later this month, one of the performers will be the Los Angeles-based Ben Babylon Band (BBB). The BBB is an alternative rock group fronted by 15-year-old singer/songwriter Ben Babylon, an award-winning pianist and keyboard player, who is working on his first album with help from members of the Elton John Band.
NAMM is billed as the world's premier music products trade show. In addition to introducing cutting-edge musical and recording technologies and products, it is also a showcase of fresh, new musical talent, as well as established performers. Among other artists scheduled to appear at NAMM are The Cabana Boys, Bordertown Saints, Nick Smith & Friends, funk legends Tower of Power and many more.
"It's a real honor to be invited to perform at NAMM, which is not easy to get into," Babylon said. "I am looking forward to meeting other artists and seeing what new products are coming out."
Babylon has been studying music since age 4, under the direction of his father, the late Guy Babylon, who was Elton John's Grammy award-winning keyboardist and arranger for 21 years. Guy passed away in 2009, leaving Ben to carry the torch with help from his mother, songwriter Kathy Babylon. Babylon's album on which the Elton John Band appears, "Dreams for Sale," is anticipated for release later this year. The first single, "Contradiction," is currently available on iTunes.
In addition to Babylon, who plays keyboards and sings lead vocals, the Ben Babylon Band is comprised of Brian Schwartz on lead guitar, Alex Arnaout on bass and background vocals, and Jagger Krusen on drums.
The Ben Babylon Band will perform at the NAMM Show on Thursday, January 24 at 4:00 p.m. on the Patio Stage, Anaheim Convention Center. The performance is open to NAMM Show attendees. Pre-registration is required. Information is available at www.namm.org. Information about the Ben Babylon Band is available at www.BabylonMusic.biz.
