In follow-up to its 2013 critically-acclaimed LA/west coast premiere, Women Are Crazy Because Men Are A**holes returned November 14, 2014 to Los Angeles for one last engagement at West Hollywood's Macha Theatre where it was originally set for performances through December 14. But today, Producer/Director/Writer Brad T. Gottfred greenlighted the show's extension by an additional two months due to advance ticket sales and an outcry for additional performances. Check out highlights of the production below!
Following its run in LA, Gottfred is planning a 2015 opening off-Broadway in New York during 2015. Written BY Gottfred, Women Are Crazy... is presented by Bleeping Crazy Entertainment in association with Macha Theatre/Films. During 2011, the show had its first workshop production in Los Angeles and a World Premiere in Chicago. Its Los Angeles premiere engagement was scheduled for a month's run at the Macha Theatre during 2013 but due to an overwhelming reception from critics and audiences alike, the show ran a collective 9 months before closing.
Described as a romantic comedy which gleefully examines the ways in which men and women make each other miserable... Women Are Crazy Because Men Are A**holes brings to life five couples who come together for brunch to celebrate "Nicole" and "Dylan" who, after a two month internet courtship, meet for the first time. The event proves to be the last reasonable thing any of them will do that day. Secrets will be screamed. Sex will be weaponized. And sanity will have its throat sliced.
Margaret Gray of the Los Angeles Times wrote "Seldom have I been a part of a more enthusiastic and vocal audience. Brad T Gottfred's play about young couples stumbling through the minefield of codependency taps a universal nerve." Television entertainment reporter George Pennacchio's widely viewed KABC TV news coverage of the show catapulted WACMAA's popularity into a multi-week extension beyond its original closing date in 2013.
Women Are Crazy Because Men Are A**Holes' return engagement features two alternating casts of 10 which include Devlin Borra (Dylan), Blake Boyd (Reynold), Baxter Defy (George), Christine Donlon (Bella), Tunisa Hardison (Hillary), Mandy Henderson (Nicole), Nikki Mckenzie (Phoenix), JJ Nolan (Mandy), Justin Sintac (Tim), and John Weselcouch (Benny).
