FOX's "24" star Gregory Itzin is setting sail for a wild adventure at the Geffen Playhouse as Louis de Rougemont in Shipwrecked! An Entertainment: The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told By Himself), reprising his role from a recent production at South Coast Repertory.
Written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Donald Margulies and under the direction of Bart DeLorenzo, Shipwrecked! is "inspired by the true story of the unlikely hero who spellbound Victorian England - and subsequently the world - with his incredible tale of survival, Shipwrecked! is a production that appeals to all ages with a wealth of fantastic characters," according to press notes.
BroadwayWorld's own James Sims joined Itzin and DeLorenzo to learn of the voyage Louis de Rougemont took in becoming a "tabloid sensation" of his Victorian England days with his amazing tales chronicling a voyage full of wild characters and plenty of imagination.
Joining Itzin on stage are Melody Butiu and Michael Daniel Cassady as they perform the various other players in Louis' adventures - including a giant octopus, a faithful dog, a curmudgeonly sea captain and some cagey natives.
Shipwrecked! is scheduled to run at the Geffen Playhouse through July 27, 2008. For more information or to purchase tickets visit www.geffenplayhouse.com or call 310-208-5454. The theatre is located at 10886 Le Conte Avenue in Los Angeles. And for more from James Sims visit www.simsscoop.com.
