Timeheart /by Chris Bramante, Bryan Cain, Miles Crosman & Nikki Muller/directed by Dave Reynolds & Bryan Cain/ The Lillian Theatre/thru June 26, 2015

Pretty much every element works as intended in this purposely cheesy, low-tech world premiere of Timeheart at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Interesting choice to begin this Robot Teammate & the Accidental Party production with such a somber song, though sung most melodiously by Kat Primeau. Timeheart 's "Let's put on a show" vibe succeeds primarily due to the talents and stage presence of Dave Reynolds as Bruce Greenstreet, the inventor of the time machine/capsule. Reynolds' strong and pleasant vocals coupled with his sharp physical comedy antics and timing propel this story of how Greenstreet can repair all his noble invention's mishaps. Reynolds receives able assist from many of his co-stars, most importantly, the girl of Greenstreet's dreams Melody McMoon, effervescently limned by Molly Dworsky. His scheming maybe-ally, maybe-not Professor Allagan Allties has the proficient Chris Bramante deliciously shifting back and forth between his two faces. On the villain side, Miles Crosman has fun with his not-always a person with authoritive power Lord Steve Antagano. His mystic Beedo (a completely costumed and make-upped alien) provides much of the simpatico to the proceedings via the acting skills of Bryan Cain. The Lord's deadly assassin Viatrix has the advantage of having Nikki Muller's strong physicality (She's an assassin after all!) and very strong and gorgeous vocals. All milk the aspired laughs out of Primeau's cute choreography.

Musical director Sam Johnides, who also composed and arranged the music, adeptly leads the Timeheart Band of Chris Sousa on bass, Matt Campbell on drums and Dan Macken on omnichord and live SFX.
