The Bitch is Back: An All-Too Intimate Conversation/by Sandra Tsing Loh /The Edye Theatre at The Broad Stage/thru August 2, 2015
Sandra Tsing Loh grabs her predominantly female audience by the hair (and their accompanying males by their balls) as she commandeers all in her hilarious 70-minute non-stop, continuous stream of consciousness on menopause, better known as The Bitch is Back: An All-Too Intimate Conversation. Loh's very smart patter/lecture/ dissertation aided by her full-body demonstrations simply mesmerize. Loh vividly describes, while simultaneously physically illustrating, her mood swings, her frustrations, the plate throwing, her melt-down over a Vivaldi tune, the hesitation of getting on a weight scale, her dry vagina. Inspired by her memoir "The Madwoman in the Volvo: My Year of Raging Hormones," of course, the raising of her teenage daughters would happen to coincide with her onset of menopause. Not so lucky for Loh, but lucky for all of us as this alignment of life issues make for an hysterical torrent of stories, obviously much more relatable to menopausal or post-menopausal mothers (Loh picked them out of the audience whilst interacting with everyone else.)
Loh's so specific in her descriptions one easily visualizes, for one example, the tasty food samples from Costco vs. the healthy ones from Trader Joe's.
Where else can you see a woman throwing her wombful of unfertilized eggs over her shoulder -- in your direction?
Loh's just too funny!
