Created and performed by Amy Snowden, Casting Confessions from La to LA is an outrageous and comical insight into her formative years in a small town in Louisiana, her move to Hollywood to become a sitcom actress but getting chewed up and spit-out in Hollywood, and her unique secret ways of finally making money to survive and rise in the OC. Amy's wild ride is full of hilarious and terrifying stories of nightmare roommates, nowhere jobs, massage parlor encounters, public transportation, and see-through underwear!

After packed houses and an Encore Award by the Hollywood Fringe Festival, Amy Snowden's Casting Confessions from La to LA is back on Thursday nights at The Zephyr on Melrose. Leave the kids at home and be ready to laugh right along with her at the outrageous ways in which her dreams of being a famous sitcom actress led her to a life she could never have imagined for herself, all the way from innocence to happy endings.

Los Angeles comedian Amy Snowden grew up in Oakdale, Louisiana, a small town about three and a half hours northwest of New Orleans. As an awkward, shy kid she found she had a knack for making harsh realities hilarious. She began performing her funny and quirky original music in clubs from Louisiana to Los Angeles, eventually leading her to her career in stand-up. But a girl has to earn a living to afford living in Hollywood, even if it means being a less-than-qualified waitress at Tony Roma's or a Fetish Fulfiller willing to act her way through the most outlandish scenes just to make a buck.

One of her original songs, Toe Hoe, based on a real experience Snowden shares in the show, was a YouTube sensation and remains a huge fan favorite. Between scenes of the show, the song was played, leading to roars of audience laughter thanks to her hysterical self-deprecating lyrics.

Like other beautiful blonde entertainers from Louisiana, Snowden deserves to be acknowledged for her no-holds barred, anything goes descriptions of the many physical encounters she has experienced along the way to achieving her dream of stardom. And while she actually shares very few casting couch stories, you will hear several massage parlor tales of sexual encounters during which Snowden learned to develop her acting skills just to keep a roof over her head and food in the fridge.

I guarantee her antics may shock you due to her totally unselfconscious ability to discuss her days working in massage parlors (complete with a male blow-up doll), but you have to sympathize with how the small town girl with no real knowledge of big city life managed to make her way to the Comedy Store, "America's Got Talent" and became a YouTube sensation through her comedic talent and determination to succeed in show business. It's easy to think of Amy Snowden as a combination of Mae West, Sophie Tucker, and Carol Burnett, with a touch of Goldie Hahn's comedic innocence thrown in!

It's amazing to me that as a top five finalist on The John Lovitz "Find Me A Comic Contest," Amy is still searching to secure that dream job she has always cherished achieving so she can retire her well-worn other talents. Perhaps her current solo show will finally lead her into the featured role on a TV sitcom to complete her drive to be the best comic around. It's just a few steps away, Amy! I can feel it in the Hollywood air circling around you.

Casting Confessions from La to LA continues through October 20, 2016 on Thursdays at 8pm at The Zephyr Theater, 7456 Melrose Ave., LA 90036. Due to adult language and situations, leave the kids home for this one! Tickets are $17 and available by calling 323.960.5770, at the box office prior to each performance, or online at www.plays411.net/amysnowden.
