On April 5, 2009. Broadway in Concert! at the Canyon ushers in Spring with Southland musical theatre stars Peter Welkin and Shannon Watson in From Broadway to Film and Back Again, a thrilling journey featuring music from Broadway that made its way into films; and music from films that became Broadway shows. Directed by Calvin Remsberg with Musical Direction by Ron Snyder, the show is highlighted by select songs from Hairspray, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Thoroughly Modern Millie, 42nd Street, Xanadu, Oklahoma!, The Full Monty, Guys and Dolls and many others.

Fresh from his well-reviewed cabaret debut at Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's in Studio City, CA, Peter Welkin is excited to be expanding his musical repertoire with this all-new show. Mr. Welkin's background includes numerous stage productions across the country, as well as in London, as an actor, singer, director, choreographer, and producer. He is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York and currently serves as a producer, director and sight-singing actor with the rapidly growing Academy for New Musical Theater (ANMT) in Los Angeles. He is a also a founding member of Academy Repertory Company, the performer's wing of ANMT. West Coast credits include George in Sunday In The Park With George, Roger in A New Brain at West Coast Ensemble, and Keith in Elegies. Mr. Welkin has also toured the U.S. with The Pirates of Penzance.

Shannon Watson is a native of Virginia where she earned a BA in Theatre from the College of William & Mary. Since moving to Los Angeles six years ago, she has participated in numerous plays, staged readings, independent films, and demo recordings. She was last seen in the staged reading The Freaks Club at The Blank Theatre in the role of Linda. Favorite roles include: the Los Angeles Ovation Award-Winning Production of 1776 (Martha Jefferson) at Performance Riverside, Into the Woods (Cinderella), Guys and Dolls (Sarah), The 1940s Radio Hour (Ginger), You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Sally), Oklahoma! (Laurey), Moon Over Buffalo (Roz), and The Fantasticks (Luisa).
Priority-Reserved seating and General Admission non-reserved seating begins at 11:00 a.m. with priority seating pertaining to guests who elect to brunch prior to the 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. performance. *Tickets are $20. Brunch and beverages are not included in the ticket price.
