Having surpassed the halfway point in Shakespeare's canon with Othello, The Porters of Hellsgate are gearing up for the Hollywood Fringe Festival with their boldest and most daring work to date:
All 62 episodes of the hit television series Breaking Bad, presented in one hour, in Shakespearean verse.
BREAKING BARD posits a question critical to our culture: What if Breaking Bad had originally been written by The Bard himself? A sure treat for Breaking Bad fans and Shakespeare aficionados alike, this one act play offers up the most lamentable tragedy of Walter of Albuquerque: containing his treacherous plots, his pitiful murther, his tyrannical rise to power, and his most deserved death.
"For never was a tale more dark and quirky
Than this of Walter of Albuquerque." -- Chorus, Breaking Bard
Breaking Bard will star Porters' resident playwright and Associate Artistic Director Gus Krieger as the villainous Lord Walter, with resident artists Kate O'Toole as his Lady, Skyler, and Dan Sykes as his squire, Jesse. A very special chorus will be provided by Evan Lipkin. Critically acclaimed director Drina Durazo, of The Group Rep Theatre, will helm the production.
BREAKING BARD previews on Saturday, June 6th at 4pm in the Asylum Lab at Theatre Asylum, 1078 Lillian Way, Los Angeles, CA 90038. With an official opening on Friday, June 12th at 7pm, the play will run throughout the Hollywood Fringe Festival until closing on Sunday, June 28th at 4pm. Specific dates and times can be found at the Fringe website, URL listed below.
Tickets are $10.
