BLACK WOMAN, INDEED to Play Un-Erasable Solo Festival in Inglewood

Jada Suzanne Dixon's Black Woman, Indeed will come to the 2nd Annual Un-Erasable Solo Festival in Inglewood, CA.
For Jada Suzanne Dixon, the answer became Black Woman, Indeed, an original solo theatrical work exploring Black womanhood, survival, identity, belonging, and what it means to finally come home to yourself.
Presented as part of the 2nd Annual Un-Erasable Solo Festival, Black Woman, Indeed comes to the Willie Agee Playhouse in Inglewood for two performances on Friday, September 25 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, September 27 at 6:00 PM.
The piece began with a question Dixon posed to 25 Black women. Their responses did not produce one story. Instead, they revealed an ecology of lives-women who endured, adapted, calculated, searched for home, and learned to navigate a world that often asks them to be strong before it asks them to be whole.
'I am interested in what happens when survival becomes a way of life,' says Dixon. 'What happens when the armor becomes so familiar that you forget you're wearing it? Black Woman, Indeed, isn't one woman's story. It is a chorus-a witness, a reckoning, and a return.'
Through intimate storytelling, reflection, and theatricality, Black Woman, Indeed asks audiences to consider what Black women carry, what they have been taught to carry, and what becomes possible when they finally decide to put some of it down.
About Jada Suzanne Dixon
Jada Suzanne Dixon is an award-winning actor, director, playwright, intimacy director, and Producing Artistic Director whose career spans more than two decades across the American theatre. She currently serves as Producing Artistic Director of Curious Theatre Company in Denver, where she leads one of the country's most adventurous contemporary theatre companies, known for work that engages audiences in provocative conversations about the world we share.
A graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Gallatin Division and the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard/A.R.T., Dixon has built a career across performance, directing, new play development, and artistic leadership. Her work is rooted in a belief that theatre can be both a cultural home and a place of productive discomfort-a place where audiences are invited not simply to watch, but to reckon, question, laugh, listen, and see themselves differently.
In 2022, Dixon was named Colorado's Theatre Person of the Year. She is also a four-time True West Award recipient. Across her work as an artist and artistic leader, she remains committed to creating theatre that is unapologetically curious, deeply human, and willing to ask the questions other people might rather avoid.
With Black Woman, Indeed, Dixon turns that curiosity inward-using her own body, voice, and experience as the vessel for a chorus much larger than herself.
