Les Michaels Life Is A Cabaret Concert Series moves to Sundays at 2 PM in 2011 when award-winning writer, singer, composer, pianist, Melissa Vardey debuts her latest one-woman show in which we find her inhabiting the wonderful world of being underwater- figuratively speaking. Her only lifeline: her wits, skills at the piano and a sense of optimism while performing a variety of songs on piano, ukulele and percussion instruments, drawing from her own originals and her love of jazz, blues, pop, Broadway and classical.

Traveling the globe for 30 years, the stage has always been her home in exotic lands where she entertained presidents, sheikhs, royalty and dignitaries. More recently, Hollywood beckoned, along with the pursuit of The American Dream: life, liberty and loan modification! In her acclaimed one-woman musical, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Foreclosure", Ms. Vardey challenges herself - and the bank, through songs and stories about riding high with her celebrity friends to slogging through the current financial state of the Nation while managing to reclaim her soul and maintaining her dignity and sense of humor without letting the drama of uncertainty win.

Here is what some people have said about Melissa Vardey: "One talented lady. She's got it all!"  Quincy Jones. "Brilliant! Melissa makes magic" Chaka Khan. "Very funny! A cornucopia of talent", Judy Chaikin, Director, The Groundlings. "Who knew?!" Barbra Streisand. "Plays piano like a demon; sings like an angel", Ty Jeffries. Others liken her to Garrison Keillor, possessed by Joan Rivers, with a Victor Borge chaser.

Melissa Vardey in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Foreclosure" plays for one performance only on Sunday, January 2, 2011 with showtime at 2 PM at Arthur Newman Theatre at The Joslyn Center. Tickets are $10 cash only at the door and reservations may be made by calling 760-325-2731.
