Praised by music writer and producer T-Bone Burnett as "one of the most engaging and entertaining evenings of music you can hear in Los Angeles," Angel City Chorale's concerts have become holiday traditions for thousands of Angelenos who appreciate the chorale's signature blend of music styles, unexpected humor, and contagious warmth.
As a way of giving back to the Los Angeles community, each year in December, around 100 members of Angel City Chorale also participate in the organization's Tour of Hope, where the singers take a full program on the road, performing concerts for the homeless, elderly and others who could genuinely benefit from an infusion of holiday spirit. Over the past 15 years, ACC has sung for more than 30 service organizations around the city, donating not only the gift of music, but also food, personal items, clothing and medical supplies to those who need them most. In 2013, ACC's Tour of Hope will take place on Saturday, December 14, fulfilling the choir's mission of "building community one song at a time."
Angel City Chorale is also currently working closely with Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin to record choral selections for his new album, The Drop that Contained the Sea. ACC will perform with Tin for the world premiere of the album on April 13, 2014 at
Carnegie Hall in New York, followed by the West Coast premiere in June at Angel City Chorale's 2014 spring concert.
"When I founded ACC at McCabe's Guitar Shop in 1993, I never imagined that the small community of 18 singers would eventually become the amazing choir it is today," says Sue Fink, Conductor and Artistic Director of Angel City Chorale. "ACC continues to attract the most diverse, dynamic singers in Los Angeles and I feel privileged to unite this group that includes professional musicians and composers, teachers, doctors, business owners, and even television and movie screenwriters. Today's Angel City Chorale members even include one of my childhood music teachers, Carol Reich, and, at the same time, one of my former middle school students from my old teaching days, Pastor Donald Terrance Paredes."
Angel City Chorale, conducted by Founder/Artistic Director Sue Fink, is a multi-talented, multi-cultural group of 160 men and women that truly reflects the spirit of Los Angeles, the city it calls home. Recognized for its signature blend of musical styles and commitment to community, Angel City Chorale strives to give back to the Los Angeles community through the gift of song, donations and volunteerism. Offering a diverse selection of musical material including classical, jazz, folk, gospel, and rhythm and blues, ACC performs two concerts seasonally, spring and winter, to standing-room only crowds at the historic Wilshire United Methodist Church. In addition to its scheduled performances, ACC has performed at venues throughout Los Angeles, including the
Walt Disney Concert Hall, the former Kodak Theatre, the Nokia Theatre at LA Live, Staples Center, and the Shrine Auditorium. ACC has also recorded four highly acclaimed albums, which are available on CD through various online retailers found here. Angel City Chorale is a California Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
