Returning after his acclaimed Beethoven Sonata Cycle two seasons ago, Hungarian pianist András Schiff revisits Walt Disney Concert Hall to pay tribute to Schumann during his bicentennial year, Wednesday, October 13, at 8 p.m. The recital program features the German composer's Waldszenen, Op. 82, Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6, Kinderszenen, Op. 15, and Symphonic Etudes, Op. 13. The performance is the first event of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2010/11 Colburn Celebrity series, which features some of the world's leading virtuosos.
In October 2010, Mr. Schiff's North American engagements focus on the solo piano works of Schumann and Mendelssohn. Future North American engagements focus on Hungarian themes.
