A SALUTE TO SANTANA - Featuring ROBERT SARZO, celebrating the music of CARLOS SANTANA returns to The Grove by popular demand on Saturday, January 16th.

Cuban-born guitarist and composer, Robert Sarzo, is undoubtedly one of the busiest musicians in rock music today. Over the past year-and-a-half, Robert (aka "The VuDu Man," as he is affectionately known to his fans), has been performing with Geoff Tate's version of Queensryche, to sold-out crowds across the USA, Canada and Brazil on the 25th Anniversary of Operation: Mindcrime tour, and during the summer of 2014. Robert released his long-awaited solo album, "After The Storm". The album includes songs performed both in English and Spanish versions, and opens with an instrumental piece, "War Dance," inspired by tribal rhythms, Afro Cuban. "After the Storm" spent several weeks in the number one position on Amazon's Latin Rock best sellers list.

Not one to remain idle for long, Robert recruited a group of talented musicians to perform concerts saluting the illustrious career of Mexican-American guitarist, Carlos Santana. Beginning in the late-1960's, Santana's unprecedented fusion of rock, blues, and Latin-influenced melodies, set against a backdrop of Afro Cuban, conga and timbales rhythms, wove a unique musical tapestry that introduced the prevailing rock 'n' roll genre to the flavor of Spanish-style compositions, and inspired multitudes of Latino musicians to follow his pioneering example. Robert Sarzo was one of those aspiring young guitarists who drew inspiration from Santana's achievements. It seems only fitting, then, that after experiencing a highly successful career of his own, Robert Sarzo chose to Salute Santana, the man who helped set him upon his path as a musician decades ago, and to express his deep gratitude to Carlos Santana for being an inspiration not only to himself, but to so many Latino musicians who followed in the footsteps of this ground-breaking legend.
