The City of West Hollywood's Women's Advisory Board will celebrate Women's Equality Day with A Night In Herstory! A special celebration commemorating both the Board's 20 years of service to the West Hollywood community and the 93rd anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote in the United States. The event is set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, Monday, August 26, 2013, at the West Hollywood Park Public Meeting Room Council Chambers and Auto Court, 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard.

The program will feature special guest speakers, a historical digital installation, film shorts and a reception. Helen Reddy will be our keynote speaker and will also perform "I am Woman". A rep from the USPS, artist Nicolosi & Helen Reddy will unveil the pictorial commemorative stamp Postmark and limited cache envelope which will be available for purchase with their autographs.

The Women's Advisory Board (WAB) was created on December 7, 1992, and advises the City Council on policies and issues pertaining to women, advocates on behalf of women's rights, and provides programming addressing women's concerns.

In conjunction with Women's Equality Day there will be a preview and unveiling event of a new United States Post Office stamp featuring Helen Reddy at 10a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 in the lobby at West Hollywood City Hall, 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard. Both Reddy and the stamp's designer Nicolosi will be in attendance to receive proclamations from the City, and West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land will announce that August 26 will officially be declared Helen Reddy Day in West Hollywood.

Iconic singer and actress Helen Reddy's song "I Am Woman" was her first number one record. The song was won the Best Pop Vocal Performance Female GRAMMY in 1972, and remains a powerful feminist movement anthem. In addition to splitting her time between Touring, film and television work, Reddy is also active in community affairs, and has served as Commissioner of Parks and Recreation for the State of California.

Nicolosi graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

Although he has been painting his entire life and studied privately with several of the art world's most renowned fine artists, Nicolosi has enjoyed being a practicing dentist in Chicago for the past three decades. His broad-stroke artwork is intense and reflects the passion embodied in this modern day mono-moniker artist.

Validated parking will be available in the 5-story West Hollywood Park Parking Garage. Portions of the program will be televised on WehoTV and available on demand at www.weho.org.
