3-D Theatricals' HAIRSPRAY Closes 2012 Season, Beginning 10/12

3-D Theatricals presents the final show of its 2012 season, the Tony Award-winning musical HAIRSPRAY, choreography by Dana Solimando, musical direction by Allen Everman, and directed by 3-D Theatricals Executive Producer and Artistic Director T.J. Dawson. HAIRSPRAY will begin performances on Friday, October 12, with a press opening on Saturday, October 13 and perform through Sunday, October 28 at the historic Plummer Auditorium, 201 E. Chapman Ave. in Fullerton. HAIRSPRAY will then travel across town to perform at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd. for three performances only November 2 - 4!

A Cult Classic movie, that spawned a Broadway Hit, that spawned a Movie based on the show you will see! Who would have thought Baltimore in the 1960’s would be so cool? If you liked the 3DT production of “All Shook Up,” you will love this plus size 2003 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical, Book, Score, Actor and Actress!

T.J. Dawson (Director/Executive Producer/Artistic Director) has been establishing himself over the past few years in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas as a producer/director/choreographer and is thrilled about a New Theatre Company opening its doors and creating new jobs in a market that needs it so badly. T.J. is so passionate about the arts and has loved the unique opportunity to start a professional theatre company from the ground up where the options are endless. He most recently directed the critically acclaimed productions of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE (Winner of Best Musical – Stage Scene LA) and ALL SHOOK UP (both garnering Backstage Critic’s Pick and Roar of the Crowd) and THE SOUND OF MUSIC, A CHORUS LINE and AVENUE Q all for 3-D Theatricals. Select producer /director /choreographer credits include: the Orange County premieres and critically acclaimed productions of SIDE SHOW, Lippa’s THE WILD PARTY and BAT BOY The Musical which received Critic’s Pick from Backstage, “Roar of the Crowd” award from Gold Star Events as well as several Garland Award nominations from Backstage, CABARET which received Critic’s Choice for “Best Show in 2004,” INTO THE WOODS, SEUSSICAL, PETER PAN, ALTAR BOYZ, SPELLING BEE, HELLO DOLLY! ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE and THE WIZARD OF OZ are among his favorites.

Dana Solimando (Choreographer) is thrilled to be working with the incredible team at 3D Theatricals once again! Choreography credits: MISS SAIGON (McCoy Rigby Ent-2012 Ovation nomination-Best Choreography), SOUTH STREET (Pasadena Playhouse-World Premier), ALL SHOOK UP (3-D Theatricals), Little Shop OF HORRORS (McCoy Rigby Ent), SWING! (2004 and 2006 Ovation award- Best Choreography), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR Nat’l tour starring the late Carl Anderson (NAACP Theatre Award nomination), GREASE, OLIVER!, BUDDY, TOO OLD FOR THE CHORUS, as well as numerous productions of CATS. A Director/Choreographer for Crystal Cruise Lines, she recently mounted two new shows for The company (I WRITE THE SONGS and ROUTE 66). As a performer, she played the role of Tiger Lily in PETER PAN on the Broadway/National Tour as well as the A&E video.

Other Broadway credits include CATS (Rumpleteazer) and SWING! (Country girl and West Coast Swing) Nat’l tours/regional productions including SUGAR BABIES (Sally Rand), GREASE (Cha Cha), OKLAHOMA, GYPSY, RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR, J.C.SUPERSTAR, A CHORUS LINE as well as performing on the TODAY SHOW, VH-1 and MTV.

ALLEN EVERMAN (Musical Director) Allen has worked throughout Southern California for 12 years as a professional musical director/conductor and 20 years as a professional pianist. Some of his favorite M.D. credits include: ALL SHOOK UP (3-D Theatricals), THE FULL MONTY (Musical Theatre West), SWEENEY TODD (Performance Riverside), SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE (West Coast Ensemble), and THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES (El Portal Theatre and Candlelight Pavilion). Allen also performs professionally ON-stage. Recent regional credits include: Jamie in THE LAST 5 YEARS, Jerry in THE FULL MONTY, Finch in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS, and the Baker in INTO THE WOODS. Allen has had the good fortune to work alongside such greats as: Sutton Foster, Eden Espinosa, Anthony Rapp, Dale Kristien, Carol Burnett, and Bobby Rydell.

Patrick Lundquist as Corny Collins, Alyssa M. Simmons as Penny Pingleton, Laura L. Thomas as Amber Von Tussle, Bonnie Kovar as Female Authority Figure, Danny Stiles as Male Authority Figure, Marliss Amiea, Carey Rebecca Brown and Salisha Thomas as Dynamites, Shaylin Becton as Little Inez, Todrick Hall as Seaweed J. Stubbs, Chelsea Emma Franko, Chester Lockhart, Chris Duir, Daniel Switzer, Desmond Newsom, Domonique Paton, Hannah Simmons, Jacob Haren, James-Darrell, Kenji Crockett, Mattthew L. Sims, Tory Trowbridge and Micaela Martinez.

HAIRSPRAY has assembled an award-winning design team. The Set Design is by David Rockwell (original Broadway designer). The Lighting Design is by Jean-Yves Tessier. The Sound Design is by Julie Ferrin. The Costume Coordinator is Aja Bell with original costumes by William Ivey Long. The Prop Coordinator is Teresa Hanrahan. The stage manager is Lisa Palmire.
