REDCAT presents the world premiere of Sandrology, "an all-new production from the wry and sometimes wicked Sandra Bernhard, who mixes her outrageous humor and cutting satire with fiercely energetic musical numbers backed by a live rock band." Performances of this special limited engagement will be held at REDCAT, the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater, Wednesday, May 30 through Sunday, June 3, 2012.
Sandrology takes its name from Sandra Bernhard's appearances as a "pop culture anthropologist" on Bravo TV, but "there are no censors and nothing is sacred when Berhard takes the stage to journey through the worlds of contemporary culture, politics and celebrity. Backed by a high-octane rock band, Bernhard delivers incisive commentary with her signature irreverence and raunchy charismatic charm."
This new run marks Bernhard's second appearance at REDCAT in downtown Los Angeles. She describes REDCAT as "the quintessential groovy L.A. venue ... it all happens as I am driving down the Hollywood Freeway and exit downtown. Suddenly, I have arrived and it feels like home, and then all my friends appear and I never want to leave."
Since her early days at the Comedy Store in the '70s, Sandra Bernhard has been wowing fans and critics with unforgettable live performances, including Without You I'm Nothing, Excuses for Bad Behavior, Giving 'Til It Hurts, Hero Worship, The Love Machine and Everything Bad and Beautiful. She can currently be seen weekly on the Bravo Network's "Watch What Happen Live" dishing out the week's trendy topics as a pop culture anthropologist.
