Ring in the holidays with Ovations Dance Repertory Company’s beloved production of “The Nutcracker Suite”. This glittering ballet features extremely talented dancers who will leap into your heart and the famous Tchaikovsky score to delight your senses and stay with you forever.
As the curtain rises you will feel like a welcomed guest at the Stahlbaum’s lavish party as the mysterious Drosselmeyer brings to life the many toys; the enchanted tree reaches heights beyond the theater; your wide eyed children will cheer as the life-sized toy soldiers battle the mischievous mice. Then it’s on to the enchanted Snow Forest where the crystalline snowflakes dance and the Snow King and Queen performs a breathtaking Pas de Deux as the snow falls gently around them.
Ovations Dance Repertory Company broadens the appeal of The Land of Sweets in Act II with a multicultural production that welcomes all dancers and audiences. The Cavalier and Sugar Plum invites the enchanting Waltz of the Flowers into the Land of Sweets, which consists of the traditional treats of Chocolate from Spain, Coffee from Arabia, Tea from China, Russian Trepak, Candy Canes, and Mother Ginger and her Polichinelles. As an extra treat “Indian Spice” is an added divertissement flavor of bhangra music and Indian dance to add to your enjoyment.
The young and the young at heart will be captivated by the dazzling blend of choreography by Orlando Peña, lavish costumes, brilliant sets in an enchanting storybook world at The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts for the 13th year. If you are looking for a Nutcracker Ballet like no other, this is the show for you and your family! (Perfect for ages 3 through 90)
The New York Times “goes far east of the East End in its multicultural approach to the Nutcracker.”
