About Nick Russell and Sydney Swinson
Nick Russell is a singer songwriter from Long Island, NY. Nick released his latest full-length album in January 2019, Talisman was well received by the Long Island community, and since Nick has been hard at work sharing these songs with a broader audience. Consistently noted for his sincerity, it is often said that you can get a grip of the good person Nick is deep down, through his writing. When asked why he started writing songs, Nick replied "I always wanted to be a storyteller and music is most joyful way one can pass a story on". The bliss Nick feels by sharing stories through his songs is undeniable. His music and attitude towards life will leave you hanging on to every word and walking out with a renewed inspiration.
Syd got her start as a vocalist once she gained the capacity to mimic the wide range of music that she was exposed to during childhood. The obsession for performing the music of her very favorite musical influences, and of creating music of her own came very soon after. Growing up on Long Island NY she had a focus on Jazz, then Blues, Folk and Soul music. Living in NY lent her early opportunities to bring her unique and powerful voice to a wide range of historical New York venues from Carnegie Hall to Stephan Talkhouse of Amagansett with respected musicians such as David Amram and Bakithi Kumalo. Her voice has been described as a "Seemingly physical force powered by emotion" and an "Embodied Instrument" creating a sound that resonates with a diverse crowd of listeners. During her time in high school she wrote her debut album, then shortly after recorded that self titled original project produced by Andy Falco of the Infamous Stringdusters. Her songwriting is often inspired by a response to the contemporary world and connection to the natural world. Syd continues to travel the country playing her original music and favorite covers in venues for new listeners to discover. She is inspired to produce art in audio and physical forms, as she advances her career as a metalsmith artist designing and creating original jewelry and sculpture works.
