EastLine Theatre presents Machinal, a rarely-produced work by Mexican-American playwright Sophie Treadwell, as part of their third annual Hispanic Heritage Month programming. The play, which premiered on Broadway in 1928, tells the story of a Young Woman driven to murder her husband amid societal pressures and mechanization, inspired by the real-life trial of Ruth Snyder. Directed by Paul DeFilippo, the production features a cast including Stephanie Moreno, Julia Navarro, and Juancho Rodriguez. EastLine Theatre aims to highlight Treadwell's legacy and the lasting influence of Latine culture in American theatre through this important work.
