About MAZARIN
In 2024 MAZARIN will be celebrating 50 Years since its founding by Marc and Doug (Mazarin) Hochlerin from Port Washington, NY.
MAZARIN is delighted to be recognized & included in the inaugural exhibit now on display at the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame in Stony Brook, NY. The band’s music is a part of the Hall’s catalogue, and the group looks forward to performing those and other Mazarin fan favorites at MAZARIN DAY at the Hall on Sunday July 16th.
The Band with all original members including Scott Duryea, Elliot Negrin, Glenn Mack & Marc & Doug have several projects in the works for “MAZ 50” with plans for an Anthology collection release of Mazarin fans favorite recordings and new music for what will be a two CD and Streaming release. In addition to the band’s follow-up to their 2013 critically acclaimed album “Live Forever” they are releasing their first ever Live record in 2024. The live release will include special performances captured at The Cutting Room, My Fathers Place and other music venues among the hundreds the band has performed.
To commemorate “MAZ 50” the band will be performing a tour that will include NY & NJ hometown dates and travel up and down the east coast including stops in Florida & the Carolinas.
Following the band’s sold-out 45th anniversary show at My Fathers Place in 2019 they continue to build a new audience & new “Rockers” into the 2020’s. The Huffington Post has Mazarin at the top of the list of the “10 Amazing Pop Songs & Ballads You May Have Missed in the 80’s” "The Only One" by Mazarin - This is a classic, timeless pop song. It has a 1950's swing, a 1960's kick, and funny 1970s lyrics. The drums are tribal, the bass seamlessly wafts through, and the sax and guitars rock it forward. If Bow Bow Wow's "I Want Candy" could last for twenty years on the radio then so could "The Only One" if someone had given it a bigger push.
Having performed thousands of live shows at concerts, clubs, theaters & colleges Mazarin’s music is included on Major Market Radio (Best -Of) compilation records from the 80’s along with BonJovi, Twisted Sister, The Good Rats & Zebra. The band has shared the bill and performed alongside Gary US Bonds, Orleans, Mountain, Jack Cassidy/SVT, The Average White Band, Rick Derringer & John Cipollina of the Quicksilver Messenger Service.
Mazarin is the only group ever voted “New York’s Number One Rock Band” Three times by Good Times Music Magazine. The band was invited to represent the New York Area at the South by Southwest Festival and performed on an all-star festival lineup at the UT at Austin in 1991.
