Calling all young actors and actresses! WHBPAC's Arts Education Program is looking for youngsters, ages 6* - 16, to participate in its week-long summer Musical Theatre Camp, King Arthur's Quest. Campers will rehearse from Monday, August 11 through Friday, August 15 culminating in a public performance on Friday night. The fee for the camp is $450.
Campers are cast on Monday, and by Friday, they are performance-ready with costumes and sets! And when they're not rehearsing with Missoula Children's Theatre Directors, campers will be learning all about theatre and singing from WHBPAC's acclaimed Teaching Artists, enjoying pizza parties and ice cream socials and participating in the ever-popular "Spirit Days!" Young people 12 and up who would like to be "behind the scenes" can choose to participate as "Assistant Directors."
Then, campers will present an original rendition of King Arthur's Quest, starring 60 local campers and 2 adult actors. King Arthur, of legend and song, strode across Medieval England with courage and confidence - or did he? What if the troubles of his kingdom (including Camelot!) threaten to overwhelm him? Hope for the best as your favorite characters of Camelot - Guinevere, Merlin, Taleisin, the Raven, and the dashing Lancelot - wrestle with the challenges faced by their people. And follow the original twist on this familiar story as it weaves its way through a landscape full of surprises!
*Must be entering first grade in Fall of 2014.
