Always wanted to write that novel, but think you have no time? Acclaimed author Yona Zeldis McDonough and exciting newcomer Ellen Umansky join ranks in Lower Manhattan at the Pen Parentis Literary Salon to inspire readers and authors alike. Pen Parentis, the sponsor of this open arts event series, is a local organization that provides resources to authors who are also parents.
On Tuesday, January 12th, from 6pm to 8pm, in the stunningly appointed Libertine Library at Gild Hall (15 Gold Street at Platt, second floor) this pair of remarkable authors will each read from their works and sign books. Borders will be accepting credit cards and cash for any purchases. Pen Parentis founders, local authors M. M. De Voe and Arlaina Tibensky, will then lead these two incredible women in discussing how parenthood has affected their successful literary careers. This intimate Literary Salon is the perfect place to meet your future agent or editor. Full bar is available at happy hour prices from the private, upstairs bartender.
Admission is free. Donations warmly accepted. For more information consult the Pen Parentis website at www.penparentis.org.
The Pen Parentis Reading Series is made possible in part with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. It also was funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc. with public funds from The New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
