The Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County will present "A Night of Song and Dance," a benefit for the Cordaro family, on Sun., April 28 at Bellport's Gateway Playhouse.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the family of Deb and Joe Cordaro. Deb, a mother of three, has been fighting cancer for the past three years and is in need of very expensive medical treatments. Joe, her husband, teaches middle school band and jazz studies in the William Floyd School District. Their daughter, 11-year-old Alison Cordaro, is a longtime student at the Gateway Acting School and recently starred in the Gateway's 2012 production of "Irving Berlin's White Christmas," at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The event begins at 5pm with a buffet and silent auction. Auction items include tickets to a New York Yankees game, passports to Chelsea Piers and Broadway show memorabilia, as well as certificates to restaurants, hotels, boutiques and salons.

The evening's program begins at 7:30pm, and features classic and contemporary jazz, hip-hop and tap numbers performed by the Stage Door School of Dance, as well as Broadway numbers - including selections from "LES MISERABLES," "Tommy" and "Into the Woods" - performed by students and alums of the Gateway Acting School.

Jimmy Berg, president of Sunrise Toyota, has agreed to donate a portion of every new and used vehicle sold from March 24-30 to the Cordaro family, which will be made on the night of the benefit. Sunrise Toyota also made a fuel-efficient, 8-passenger, 2013 Toyota Sienna minivan available to the Cordaros, enabling them to enjoy a "Sunrise Voyage" to Florida after the family experienced mechanical issues with their personal vehicle. Photos were distributed on the Sunrise Toyota Facebook page, to help raise awareness for the fundraiser.

Tickets for the benefit are $25. Individual donations are also appreciated. To purchase tickets, or to make a donation to the Cordaro family, please call 631-286-1133 or visit https://pacsc.org/online/CordaroBenefit.
