Bay Street Theatre announces a very special performance on Friday, August 26 at 4 pm. THE WHIFFENPOOFS of Yale University will perform at Bay Street Theatre. Every year, 14 senior Yale men are selected to be in the all male Whiffenpoofs, the world's oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Founded in 1909, the "Whiffs" began as a senior quartet that met for weekly concerts at Mory's Temple Bar, the famous Yale tavern. Today, the group has become one of Yale's most celebrated traditions. The group recently competed on NBC's "The Sing-Off 2" and have performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. During the 2011-2012 season, the group will be taking their annual World Tour to a new level as they become the first class of Whiffenpoofs to visit all seven continents.

One of the members, Raphael Odell Shapiro, is from Sag Harbor. He appeared at Bay Street Theatre in the productions of "Our Town" and "Pippin." He was also in numerous STAGES productions.

Tickets are $15 for students/children and $25 for adults and are available by calling the Box Office at 631-725-9500 or log on to www.baystreet.org.
