In the comic tradition of Conan O'Brien and Stephen Colbert, Matt Fried welcome to the stage downtown celebrities, performers, young comic talent, and indie musical guests that define the scene of downtown NYC. July's show will feature John Frusciante of Upright Citizens Brigade, stand up comedian Jamie Lee, and musician Laura Gould.

THE MATT FRIED HOUR is every third Wednesday of the month at UNDER St. Marks (94 St. Marks Place between 1st and Avenue A) at 9pm. Tickets ($5) are available for purchase at the door, one half hour before show time.

Matt Fried is a writer and comedian in New York City. In college, he was an inaugural member of the C.W. Post improv troupe. In the fall of 2006, he began studying longform improvisation at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in NYC. A year later, he continued his studies at The Peoples Improv Theater. He has also studied improv at iO (Improv Olympic) in Chicago, and holds a B.F.A. in Theater Arts from Long Island University - C.W. Post. Currently, he improvises in The Dream NYC at The PIT. Previously, he has improvised with Bad Luck Rising and The Best of... Fried & Mandeville. He is also a freelance writer and a regular contributor on Guidespot.com. Recently, he was tapped to be featured in the dating documentary, I Heart New York. He also maintains the blog, IamMattFried.com. He lives in Brooklyn.

John Frusciante is a writer and improviser who has been at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre since 1999, and he is proud to serve as the theatre's Artistic Associate. John has appeared on the improv teams Petrol, T.R.U.C.K.S and The f-ing Kennedys and with sketch comedy groups Blitzkrieg, Gunderson and The Skuntz. John's writing credits include the 2003 feature-length independent film Reality and Stuff, and various pieces for the websites CollegeHumor.com, Cracked.com, AmplifierMagazine.com and ToplessRobot.com. He recently wrote an audio tour of Bryant Park for Soundwalk.com, narrated by Matthew Broderick. He is not the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Jamie Lee is a New York-based stand-up comedian. She has also write fashion slip-ups for Life & Style Magazine, appeared in videos for the website CollegeHumor.com, "Best Week Ever", and more! She produces a monthly NYC comedy show at Karma Lounge called Diamonds in the Fluff to benefit local animal rescue such as Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition and Social Tees Animal Rescue.

Laura Gould, an Iowa native by name, now makes NYC her home. With the addictive hooks known to pop music and the depth of a folk singer, Laura's sings with untainted sincerity. You can catch Laura at NYC venues such as Caffe Vivaldi, The National Underground, Googie's Lounge (above The Living Room), Rockwood Music Hall, Kenny's Castaways, & The Bitter End.
