Richard Lafleur and Jason Simon Will Lead The Argyle Theatre's THE PRODUCERS - Full Cast and Creatives Announced

Long Island's newest theatrical venue The Argyle Theatre (Mark and Dylan Perlman, Managing Partners; Evan Pappas, Artistic Director) concludes its inaugural season with the hit Tony Award-winning Broadway musical The Producers, with book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, and music & lyrics by Mel Brooks. Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a Major Sponsor of The Producers. Performances begin Thursday, March 14, 2019 for a limited engagement through Sunday, April 20, 2019 at The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island). Opening Night is Saturday evening, March 16, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.

Under the direction of Argyle Theatre's Artistic Director Evan Pappas, with choreography by Antoinette DiPietropolo and music direction by Jeffrey Lodin, the cast will feature Richard Lafleur as Leo Bloom, Jason Simon as Max Bialystock, with Cody Marcukaitis as Franz Liebkind, Gina Milo as Ulla, Jon J. Peterson as Carmen Ghia, and John Salvatore as Roger De Bris. The ensemble includes Krya Christopher, Jerome Doerger, Courtney Fekete, Carissa Fiorillo, Heather Klobukowski, Ryan Koerber, Gerard Lanzerotti, Ashley Gale Munzek, Matthew Rafanelli, Robert Serrano, Ryan Thurman, Erica Wilpon.

When The Producers came to Broadway starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick as the infamous characters Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, it had audiences laughing so hard they could barely catch their breath.

Bialystock is a once-successful Broadway producer in the middle of a dry spell. His accountant Bloom tallies the numbers of their current flop. Devious Max realizes he could make more money by producing a deliberate flop and over-selling a piece of the action to unsuspecting investors.

Bialystock finds an incredibly offensive script, "Springtime for Hitler" written by an ex-Nazi and begins to seduce his backers-all little old ladies-out of millions of dollars. He auditions and hires bad actors and a bad director, and even tells the actor who plays Hitler to "gay it up."

In the first minutes of "Springtime for Hitler," members of the outraged audience start walking out. Then the Hitler character takes the stage, and people decide the play is a funny satire. Miraculously "Springtime for Hitler" is a huge success. But this hilarious cult comedy doesn't stop there. The rest of the story involves the IRS, tax fraud, prison time, and a happy ending.

The Producers dominated the 2001 Tony Awards, setting a record for most nominations-15-then setting the record again for most awards won with 12, including Best Musical, Score, Book, Director, and Actor (Nathan Lane), and all the musical design awards.

The creative team for The Producers includes Set Design by Justin West, Costume Design by Heather Stanley, Lighting Design by Graham Kindred, Sound Design by David M. Lawson, Wig Designer Peter Fogel, Props Designer Lily Ten Eyck and The Production Stage Manager is Will Chaloner with Stage Manager Joan Wyatt. The Casting Director is Michael Cassara.

The Producers will play the following performance schedule: Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 3:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: There are no Monday or Tuesday performances.

The Argyle Theatre, the newly renovated and historic theatre on Main Street in the Village of Babylon, NY, opened in Spring, 2018 with the musical Guys and Dolls, the first show in a full roster of plays, musicals, concerts and other performing arts. The theatre will offer six annual main stage productions featuring performers from Actors Equity Association, the union for professional stage actors.

The much-anticipated performance venue has been brought back to life by Mark and Dylan Perlman, a father-son duo behind the $3-million project. Seaford residents Mark Perlman, psychologist, and Dylan Perlman, actor, have long dreamed of bringing high-quality live theatre to Babylon, NY.

The Argyle Theatre has a rich history of entertainment reaching back to 1921 when a newspaper article in the Babylon Leader announced plans for a "$100,000 Theatre for Main Street." With a 1,500-seat capacity, the new Capitol Theatre was expected to be "the finest theatre on the South Side." The new entertainment venue would not only benefit residents, it would help Babylon become a more attractive summer resort for vacationers.

A 1923 playbill advertised daily performances ranging from vaudeville to adaptations of Broadway shows such as The Hero and East Side West Side.

In 1925, the Suffolk County theatre re-opened under new ownership as the Babylon Theatre, delighting audiences with its many modern improvements including a flashy electric marquis. An advertising campaign to surrounding communities was so successful that 500 people had to be turned away on opening night. It was obvious that the Babylon Theatre was poised for success.Throughout the following decades, the Babylon Theatre survived two fires and several different owners as it continued operating as a modern cinema house until 2014.
