The Broadway League has just issued the following statement "As of now, all performances on Broadway will take place as regularly scheduled on Friday, February 26."

"It's winter in New York, so snow is falling; but when it's showtime on Broadway, the curtains go up!," commented Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League. "It's a great time to get good seats to the hot musicals and plays currently playing in our theatres."

Despite heavy snow already having hit and more on the way to the New York City area, all daytime and evening events on Wednesday February 10 are performing as scheduled.

As "the show must go on", multiple shows, including MAMMA MIA!, A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE, IN THE HEIGHTS, are offering special "Snow Day" discounts and it's likely that even Broadway's hottest shows will all have tickets available for today's performances.

Many travel advisories are in effect, so those planning to travel into and around the city should use caution and public transportation wherever possible.

The latest winter storm alert from the National Weather Center for the New York City area states:

THE WINTER STORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST SATURDAY FOR THE SOUTHERN ADIRONDACK REGION...MOHAWK VALLEY...HELDERBERGS AND EASTERN CATSKILLS.

SNOW...MODERATE TO HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE TO FALL ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH THIS MORNING. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 12 TO 24 INCHES ARE EXPECTED BY THIS AFTERNOON. TOTALS OF 2 TO 3 FEET ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE EASTERN CATSKILLS AND SCHOHARIE COUNTY.

THE HEAVY WET SNOW WILL LEAD TO DOWNED TREE LIMBS...TREES AND POWER LINES. IN ADDITION...WINDS WITH THIS STORM WILL LIKELY ADD TO THE POWER OUTAGES AND RESULT IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW. ALSO...THE WEIGHT OF THE WET SNOW ON ROOFS AND BUILDINGS MAY RESULT IN THE COLLAPSE OF SOME STRUCTURES.

THE SNOW IS ASSOCIATED WITH A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM NEAR SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND THIS MORNING. THE LOW WILL DRIFT WESTWARD OVER SOUTHERN NEW YORK IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THE LOW WILL THEN MOVE LITTLE THROUGH SATURDAY...BUT WILL WEAKEN...AS IT MOVES SOUTH OF LONG ISLAND.
