Jade is a talented but troubled young woman struggling to survive under the same roof as her mother. This highly dramatic yet often comedic role is played by Hillary Hawkins who recently performed Off-Broadway in Futurology The Musical and in the National Tour Seussical. Hillary is also known for her TV roles in Are You Afraid of The Dark and New York Undercover. Actress Nicole Renee (Law & Order; Once On This Island) plays the part of her mother, Contessa. This once 2-woman show, now becomes 3, with Debra Pitkin (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Split Ends The Musical) as the Therapist.
Jaded The Musical was created by playwright, lyricist, composer Hillary Hawkins who is a Smith College graduate and Denis Johnston Playwriting Award Recipient. Jadedfeatures choreography by Nubia Quele Santos (choreographed NYMF Off-Broadway show Rio The Musical; was Top 40 on So You Think You Can Dance Australia.) Lauren Bremen (graduate of Yale University) joins the team as Lighting Designer.
Jaded The Musical is a new musical that was last seen in the DC Black Theatre Festival. Jaded was also a Downtown Urban Theatre Festival Finalist and Scratch Night at Theatre for the New City Selection. Jaded is a highly entertaining thought-provoking play that will leave you wondering if there is someone you know with a secret that needs to come out... Maybe that someone is you. When asked what's next for Jaded, Hillary replied "I would love for Jaded to have an Off-Broadway open-ended run and also would like to take the show to colleges and universities. I'm thankful for the opportunity that The Secret Theatre has given me to present this new work to the NYC community. And I hope that people will start to talk about issues they may not have otherwise talked about after seeing this show..."
