Cary Hoffman's highly acclaimed show My Sinatra, A Musical Memoir About Obsession, has been extended after 2 sold out shows at The Triad. Before making The Triad his home, Cary held several successful and critically acclaimed workshops at the Algonquin Theater downtown. My Sinatra will make its official Triad return on Friday, April 9th at 7:00 PM.
My Sinatra, A Musical Memoir About Obsession, is the very true story about one man's love and idolization of Frank Sinatra, one of the world's greatest performers of all time. The show takes us on a journey that asks us to aspire and believe in the magic and power of entertaining and questions the need many of us have to be somebody else. Co-written by Cary Hoffman and Paul Linke ("...But First Sammy Shore") with musical direction by Tex Arnold, this reality musical, which originally appeared as a special on PBS, specifically follows Hoffman's real life, that of a Long Island teenager growing up in the 1940's, who obsesses over the legendary Frank Sinatra. After the death of two fathers and the support of his three studio musician uncles (who played with Sinatra), the persona of Sinatra takes on a whole new meaning for Cary throughout his life and career. My Sinatra...is Cary's story, where he bares his soul through personal anecdotes, humor, and some of the songs made famous by Sinatra and shares how his obsession affected his life.
The multi-talented Cary Hoffman has been performing the music of Frank Sinatra for the past eight years all over the world inspiring The New York Times to call him, "Dead on." In addition to life as a performer, Hoffman is currently one of the Executive Producer of the new TNT series Men of a Certain Age starring Ray Romano and Scott Bakula. Previously Hoffman worked as a successful songwriter/producer including the off-Broadway musical "What's A Nice Country Like Yours, Doing in a State Like This" (starring Martin Short and Betty Buckley), two top twenty Country hits and some of the most well known jingles. As a personal manager, Cary discovered the great R&B crooner Luther Vandross and also manages Mike Royce (co-created Men of a Certain Age), Tom Hertz (Creator of Rules of Engagement on CBS). Cary was also the owner of Stand-Up NY Comedy Club, a landmark club on the Upper West Side for the past 22 years.
