Gateway Playhouse's MISS SAIGON Begins 7/8 At Patchogue Theatre

The Gateway Playhouse's production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's Miss Saigon begins performances July 8th at 8 PM at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts on Long Island.

Directed and Choreographed by Bob Durkin and musical direction by Andrew Graham, the production will run through July 25th.

The cast features Korean Pop Star Alex Lee Tano (or as she's known in Korea: Sojung Lee) and Raul Aranas reprising roles they once played on Broadway as ‘Kim' and ‘The Engineer' respectively. Other members of the principal cast include Scott Laska (Chris), Collin Lyle Howard (John), Mary Mossberg (Ellen), and Allen Hong (Thuy).

The Ensemble comprises Julie Almeria, Alan Ariano, Eymard Meneses Cabling, Justin Cerne, Andrew Cristi, Cheryl Daro, Matthew Frazier, Scott McLean Harrison, Sacha Iskra, Alex Jorth, Marvin Joshua, Christian Marriner, Robert McCaffrey, Erica Nadera, Matthew Nowak, Tsubasa Ogawa, Rumiko Oyama, Brian Rubiano, and Joyce Rena Wong.
This pop-opera relocates the story to Saigon in the last days of the Vietnam War. Chris, an American soldier has a brief, torrid affair with an innocent Vietnamese girl named Kim. In the chaos of the U.S. exodus, they are tragically separated. Believing that Kim has died, Chris returns home and, eventually, marries. Kim begins a harrowing journey to escape her ravaged homeland and reunite with the man she's certain is waiting for her - and their son.

Miss Saigon debuted on Broadway on March 23, 1991, and ran through Jan. 28, 2001. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh and directed by Nicholas Hytner, the pop opera won Tony Awards for three of its original stars, Jonathan Pryce, Hinton Battle and Lea Salonga. Songs titles include "Sun and Moon," "I Still Believe," "Why God Why," "I'd Give My Life For You," "Now That I've Seen Her" and "The American Dream."

The production design team includes Michael Anania (sets) and Doug Harry (lights) with Dom Ruggiero as the production stage manager.

Performances of Miss Saigon are Tuesday-Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 3 & 8:30 PM; Sunday at 2 PM with Thursday matinees at 2 PM and special performances at 7 PM Sunday, July 12 & July 19, and at 2 pm Wednesday, July 22; no matinee July 19.
