In November, Electric Theatre Company presents the world premiere of The Men of Mah Jongg by Richard Atkins, directed by Tony Award winner, Mark Medoff. This charming tale of four elderly men, who secretly take up the traditionally female game of mah jongg, will tickle your spirits and touch your heart. From Scranton the production moves directly into New York; a co-production with Queens Theatre in the Park. Pay-What-You-Can previews begin Wednesday, November fifth and opening night is Saturday, November 8th.

Richard Atkins (playwright): has been wearing many hats for most of his performing life. He is a playwright, accomplished pianist, (formerly with Guy Lombardo) actor and composer. He is working on another new play, DeliKateSSen, and on a screenplay based on the book Child of the Twentieth Convoy which tells the story of the only deportation train to Auschwitz that was successfully hijacked by the resistance, saving 200 lives.
Mark Medoff (director): Tony award winning playwright, Oscar nominated screenwriter, stage and screen director, and professor at various theatre programs, this is Mark's fourth project with Electric Theatre Company.
The Cast includes professor at Bloomsburg University Michael Collins, and New York actors John Fitzgibbon, Evan Thompson, and Joe Jamrog. Marybeth Langdon is stage manager. Designers include Scenic Designer Charles Wittreich (chair of the Department of Theatre, Suffolk Community College), Lighting Designer James Langan of Scranton, Properties Mistress Liz Feller of Clarks Summit, Sound Designer Conor McGuigan of Scranton, and Costumer Debra Otte (professor of design, Montclair University).
