Justin Bond – the Tony nominee beneath the glamous Kiki of Kiki and Herb – will team with Our Lady J
(aka Jonnah Speidel), Nathan Carrera, Glenn Marla and The Pixe Harlots for
gender-bending fun in Lustre at Performing Space
122 beginning February 20.
Lustre, a "heady
mix of glamour, gender queer cabaret, and sexy provocation" is
music-directed by Our Lady J and will run February 20 through March 9 at PS
122. Show time is 8:30PM with 11PM extra performances added on Saturday
evenings.
Obie Award-winner Justin Bond recently performed a holiday concert with piano-playing booze-partner Kelly Mellman at Carnegie Hall. Both Mellman and Bond starred in the 2006 Tony-nominated special event, Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway which they later toured to San Francisco and other international engagements. Bond stars in the recently-released concert DVD "Kiki & Herb Live from the Knitting Factory." Bond's work also includes performances with the Scissor Sisters and a role in the film Shortbus.
Our Lady J, a.k.a. Jonnah Speidel, has worked with the NYC
Gay Men's Chorus, American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre and the
Mark Morris Dance Group. As a composer,
she scored The Caucasian Chalk Circle for NYU's Steinhart School
and the musical-in-progress, The Gift.
She has also musical directed and performed with some of NYC's most
colorful talents in such venues as Alice Tulley Hall, Carnegie Hall,
Feinstein's at the Regency, Makor (92nd
Street Y), Radio City Music Hall and Town Hall.
