Artists in Partnership (AIP), a non-profit cultural arts organization, will host its 10th Annual Cabaret Festival today, May 16 through May 20 at the Long Beach Public Library, 111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY. All performances are free to the public. The festival will be a celebration of the cabaret genre honoring the Great American Songbook with performances by renowned local and New York City-based artists.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 16, 7:30 pm – “Why Cabaret and the American Songbook?” Susan James opens the festival with featured guest Anita Darian of Broadway and recording fame as they explore the unique contribution of the American Songbook as expressed in the intimacy of the cabaret experience with audio highlights from the past 10 years of festival artists
THURSDAY, MAY 17, 7:30 pm –“That Could Be Arranged” with musical director/arranger Tedd Firth and vocalists Kate Cooke, Cynthia Crane, Amy Dolan Fletcher, Diane Hoffman, Susan Winter with demos of interpretative style followed by “Meet the Artists”
FRIDAY, MAY 18, 7:30 pm – Karen Oberlin in “Daydream” with Tedd Firth on piano followed by “Meet the Artists,” a Q and A with special guest David Hajdu, music reporter for The New Republic and author of “Lush Life: A Biography of Billy Strayhorn”
SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2:00 pm– “Cabaret Conversations” Established artists perform and comment on the cabaret genre, selection/ interpretation of material, and the club scene. Critic Rob Lester, Metropolitan Room’s booking manager/singer Tanya Holt and NYC MAC, Bistro, and MetroStar Award performers: Iguana’s host Dana Lorge, Iridium’s Terese Genecco , Sugar Bar’s Shaynee Rainbolt, Aza’s Marissa Mulder and Bill Zeffiro (pianist/songwriter)
SATURDAY, MAY 19, 7:00 pm – “A Tribute to Marilyn Maye” with musicians Billy Stritch and Steve Doyle, vocalists Kevin Alvey, Deb Berman, Grace Cosgrove, Terese Genecco, Peggy Herman, Sidney Myer, Shaynee Rainbolt, Steve Webber, Susan Winter, and Bill Zeffiro with special guest Marilyn Maye In Concert!
SUNDAY, MAY 20, 1:30 pm –Stephanie Nakasian in “Billie Remembered” with Hod O’Brien on piano, a tribute to Billie Holiday and her development in clubs followed by “Meet the Artists”
