The talent of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's culture guru Jai Rodriguez is going to be exposed. Known to the Broadway world for his hit performances in RENT and Zanna Don't, Rodriguez is busy preparing for his upcoming show called Xposed, an autobiographical pop/rock Moulin Rouge style rendition of his life. The show will be taking place at the incredible new Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall for one-night only on January 31st at 8pm. The show, benefiting The Actors' Fund of America, features Wicked's Shosanna Bean, guest appearances by Queer Eye's Ted Allen and Carson Kressley, some of the hottest dancers on Broadway, and other surprise guests.
Known to audiences around the world for his successful stint on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Rodriguez is going to be opening up the story of his life before and since Queer Eye. Directed by Schele Williams, the show will include Jai's provocative story about a Long Island boy growing up in a conservative household and discovering the truth of his sexuality. All of his life's decisions depicted through popular songs and dance will show the audience his struggles and triumphs that has brought him to where he is today.
The Actors' Fund of America is the only nation nonprofit organization that provides for the social welfare of all entertainment professionals--designers, writers, sound technicians, musicians, dancers, administrators, directors, film editors, stagehands--as well as actors. More than 12,000 people a year - professionals in film, television, radio, theatre, dance and music - turn to The Actors' Fund in times of need and have since 1882. The Actors' Fund's mission is "to advance, foster and benefit the welfare of all professionals in the entertainment community who are in need of help, ensuring that these efforts are accomplished with compassion, confidentiality and preservation of dignity for the individuals concerned."
Rodriguez states, "It is my hope that by doing a benefit performance for the Actors' Fund of America, more entertainment professionals will be helped along their own journey towards success. I have always been thankful for the Actors' Fund in my own career."
