Night of Stars presents The Broadway Tenors in Concert, an evening of favorite musical theatre hits, at its annual fundraising event for the Children's Shelter, Monday, September 14, 2015 at The Silos, 1743 County Road 380, Bono, AR.
The Broadway Tenors bring the greatest Broadway songs to life in this enchanting evening-from the classic "Some Enchanted Evening" from South Pacific to newer favorites, like "Oh, What a Night!" from the hit Jersey Boys. The renowned tenors Brent Barrett, John Cudia and Kyle Dean Massey add additional Broadway fun and flair with special medley material written just for them, and a fully-staged and choreographed theatrical show.
David Lindauer of the Capital Gazette said of the Tenors, "Individually, each is a spectacular artist; together, they present an infinite and kaleidoscopic range of musical possibilities...The three talented tenors tantalized our sensibilities with beautifully rendered offerings from Broadway shows of the past century... Brent Barrett is a versatile performer whose Broadway credits include Billy Flynn in Chicago-The Musical, Frank Butler in Annie Get your Gun opposite Reba McEntire, Tony in West Side Story, Maximillian in Candide and Tommy Albright in Brigadoon, also known for his Phantom in Phantom-The Vegas Spectacular, Fred Graham in Kiss Me, Kate (West End (Olivier Nom and PBS), Archibald in The Secret Garden (New Zealand). Other shows include The Pajama Game, Camelot, Buster Alley, Closer Than Ever, March of the Falsettos, The Death of Von Richtofen, Silence! The Musical and Portrait of Jenny, to name a few.
John Cudia holds the distinct honor of being the first and only actor to have performed both the roles of The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera and Jean Valjean in LES MISERABLES on Broadway. John was recently awarded the Chicago Joseph Jefferson Award for "Best Actor in a Musical" for his performance as Jean Valjean in LES MISERABLES at the Marriott Theater. Other shows include Oklahoma, La Traviata, Jesus Christ Superstar, South Pacific and West Side Story.
Kyle Dean Massey currently appears as country heartthrob singer/songwriter Kevin Bicks on ABC's Nashville. His Broadway roles include the title role in Pippin, Gabe in Next to Normal, Fiyero in Wicked, and Thalia in Xanadu. Other shows include Altar Boyz, Lucky Guy, 42nd Street, West Side Story, and many readings and workshops included Book of Mormon and Newsies.
Matt Cavenaugh, "... is first-rate." (Ben Brantley NY Times) In such roles as Tony in West Side Story Broadway revival to the diverse roles Joe Kennedy, Jr./Jerry in the critically acclaimed Broadway production of Grey Gardens, Ralph Halloran in Harvey Fierstein's A Catered Affair, as well as Bud, the John Travolta role, in the Broadway version of An Urban Cowboy. Matt will reprise the Jason Robert Brown song, It Don't Get Better Than This, at the benefit. Other shows include Thoroughly Modern Millie, Ragtime, Grease, Death Takes a Holiday, Dorian, It's a Bird, It's a Plan, It's Superman, to name a few.
Phil Reno, music director - currently Music Director of Something Rotten! on Broadway, Other Broadway shows include Promises, Promises, Elf, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Producers, Thou Shalt Not Cats and Dame Edna: The Royal Tour and Back With a Vengeance. Other shows include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Music Of The Night, Starlight Express, Sweet Charity Chess, among others.
The Night of Stars Under the Stars is a benefit to help raise money and awareness for The Children's Shelter in Jonesboro and Craighead County. The Children's Shelter is a private non-profit organization providing 24 hour emergency temporary residential care to children that need it most. The Children's Shelter fills a void in so many young lives that have no control over where they go! We accept kids from all over Arkansas who don't have a family to turn to. The Children's Shelter sets the standard for high quality service to children by performing above what's expected. Our trusted staff and volunteers provide extra special care and attention during this very sensitive time. The unconditional care of a child will always be our primary goal.
