THE SOUND OF MUSIC Comes to Walton Arts Center Next Week ImageWalton Arts Center started the 2018-19 Procter & Gamble Broadway Series with a Rodgers and Hammerstein favorite, The King and I, and the season is ending with another classic from the duo, The Sound of Music. Featuring music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, The Sound of Music will have audiences humming along to favorite tunes and falling in love again with Maria and the von Trapp Family.

There will be eight performances from May 15-20. Tickets start at $36 plus applicable fees and can be purchased in-person at the Walton Arts Center Box Office, by calling 479.443.5600 or by visiting waltonartscenter.org.

The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences with its Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning Best Score, including "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Edelweiss" and the title song.

The creative team for this new production includes direction by Matt Lenz, based on the national tour's original direction by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien (Hairspray, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Coast of Utopia). Original choreography by Danny Mefford (Dear Evan Hansen, Fun Home, The Bridges of Madison County, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) has been recreated by Jonathan Warren, with music supervision by Andy Einhorn (Hello, Dolly!, Bullets Over Broadway, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, The Light in the Piazza).
