The original Broadway production launched the careers of such young actors as Jonathan Groff (Glee, Looking, Hamilton), Lea Michele (Glee), Jenna Oshkowitz (Glee, Waitress) and Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect). The original Broadway production won seven 2007 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The Broadway revival, produced by LA's Deaf West Theatre Company in 2015, featured Ali Stroker -- Broadway's first wheelchair bound actress, as well as, a cast mixed with hearing and non hearing actors.
Spring Awakening is a rock musical with music by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater. It is based on the German play Spring Awakening (1891) by Frank Wedekind. Set in late-19th-century Germany, the musical tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of teenage sexuality.
Directed by Justin A. Pike, SPRING AWAKENING has music direction by Bob Bidewell, costume design by Hannah M. Sawyer, lighting & scenic design by Joey DiPette & Justin A. Pike, choreography by Olivia Stephens, and is stage managed by Danette Scott Perry.
Performances are June 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25 of 2017. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances (June 8-10, 15-17, 22-24) will begin at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25.00 for general admission, $20.00 for Seniors (65+), Military, and Students. There are no assigned seats at The Studio Theatre. The box office will open at 6:30pm on performance dates and the house will open approximately 20 minutes prior to curtain. Tickets may be purchased at www.eventbrite.com. The Lobby Bar is open before and after the show and during intermission. Note: This production is rated PG13.
