NEIL DIAMOND GETS HIS JUST DUE
"DIAMOND MOUNTAIN" movie premiere and “AMERICAN TRILOGY” concert set to highlight "DIAMONDFEST" weekend in Las Vegas honoring 50-years of Neil Diamond music.
'Diamonds' will be gleaming all around the Suncoast hotel/casino in Las Vegas beginning April 21.
Neil Diamond's popularity has risen to where his iconic status is just about up there with the likes of Elvis & Sinatra. Not to mention that Diamond wrote and composed his own material.
This year marks 50-years since Diamond's first 3 hits... "Solitary Man", "Cherry Cherry" & "I'm a Believer" which became the biggest selling record ever for the Monkees.
So, with Frank and Elvis having departed for quite some time now, it certainly makes sense to pay tribute to one of the last remaining great American "troubadours" of Rock & Pop who just recently celebrated his 75th birthday.
DIAMONDFEST, the brainchild of Film Producer/Director Steve Tatone, celebrates 50 years of the music & iconic career of Neil Diamond. Tatone, a long time "Diamondhead", has recently completed his 3rd independent film titled DIAMOND MOUNTAIN which is a documentary about the on & off-stage trials and tribulations of 13 Neil Diamond Tribute artists of various levels from 4 continents. The movie will make it's premiere in the Suncoast Hotel/Casino movie theaters on Thursday, April 21st at 7 PM (Red Carpet is 6 PM). Admission is free with a request or invitation.
Later that evening there will be a "Producer's Cocktail Party" hosted by the "IAISND.com" Neil Diamond online Fan organization where VIP Patrons will enjoy the opportunity to meet, take pics and schmooze with the Cast & other Special Guests.
There will be other Diamond themed events happening throughout the entire weekend including 3 concerts spearheaded by the popular Las Vegas based production show, AMERICAN TRILOGY ('Sinatra', 'Presley', 'Diamond') on Friday, April 22nd which just so happens to have been written and directed by Rob Garrett - a long time Vegas performer who is generally regarded as the world's foremost Neil Diamond tribute act.
Other Diamond Tribute Concerts scheduled are Curtis Di Domizio's Philly-based REAL DIAMOND BAND (4/22) & a full Broadway-style Diamond Mountain Movie Cast Concert starring Kenny LaBelle's THE DIAMOND COLLECTION BAND (4/23) and featuring the amazing Las Vegas Mass Choir, King Errisson and perhaps a few other Surprise Guest Stars.
On April 23 there will be a luncheon honoring King Errisson, Diamond's long time, renowned, percussionist. Scheduled to appear at this event are several other members of Diamond's band including Ronnie Tutt and Tom Hensley.
Co-Starring in the epic Finale ("Cast") Concert on Saturday night are San Francisco's Randy Cordeiro from Super Diamond, Branson's Keith Allynn, Chicago'sDenny Svehla, Orlando's Donn Lamkin, the UK's Bob Drury, BC Canada'sJason Scott, Santiago, Chile's Carlos Picasso Diamond Tribute, Nashville'sBlack Neil Diamond Tribute Singer Theron Denson, Charlotte's Kyle Patrick Cummings, Philly's Curtis Di Domizio, West Springfield MA's Kenny LaBelle & Las Vegas' "King of Diamonds", Rob Garrett.
