SCI-FI DRAMA SENTIENCE MAKES WORLD PREMIERE AT MAJESTIC REP
LAS VEGAS - Majestic Repertory Theatre presents the World Premiere of Tylar Pendgraft's science-fiction drama SENTIENCE.
Deborah, a research scientist, is exploring means to prevent PTSD in soldiers by genetically modifying their memories and emotions before they go into combat. By luck of the draw, her first test subject is her husband, Josh, an Air Force lieutenant. She discovers the experiment works all too well when Josh escapes a tragic plane crash that kills his partner. But the results have chilling ramifications for both Deborah and her unborn child...
"Part of our mission at Majestic is to present the American canon, old and new," says Artistic Director Troy Heard. "We kicked off 2018 with a Tennessee Williams classic. Now we're excited to complement that with a brand new script never before produced."
"The first thing that struck me about SENTIENCE was its extremely contemporary themes. The script explores the ethics of stem cell research and genetic modification - both topics ripped from today's headlines. Tylar puts them in a sci-fi setting that's only a few minutes in the future. Fans of the Netflix series BLACK MIRROR will find a lot to love about this show."
SENTIENCE continues Majestic Rep's "revolutionary" second season, which focuses on hot topics effecting today's America, following the fiftieth anniversary production of HAIR: THE AMERICAN TRIBAL LOVE-ROCK MUSICAL and the thrilling AN OCTOROON. Other shows in the season include George Orwell's ANIMAL FARM and MARIE ANTOINETTE.
Performances of SENTIENCE will be February 22nd through March 11th, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. Majestic Repertory Theatre performs at 1217 S. Main Street. General admission tickets are $25 and are on sale now at www.majesticrepertory.com. Call 702-423-6366 for details.
