Pia Zadora was arrested this weekend on charges of domestic violence after a tiff with her teenage son over his bedtime, according to an update by the Associated Press. BroadwayWorld reported yesterday that the Broadway and cabaret star had been arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and coercion on June 1, 2013, at her home in a suburb of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was released on bail after posting $4,000.

The police report states that Zadora began "scratching the faces of her 16-year-old song and husband" after an unsuccessful attempt at getting her son to go to bed.

When the son tried to call 911, Zadora reportedly hurt his ear attempting to get the phone away from him. When he eventually talked to a 911 dispatcher, the son said "his mother was going crazy and her hands were around his neck." When police arrived on the scene they were forced to wait outside the house for hours before let inside. Zadora is married to Las Vegas police detective Michael Jeffries.

Golden Globe winner, Grammy nominee, ShowWest winner, singer, film and stage star Zadora last appeared on Broadway in 1992's Crazy For You.

Zadora's career began on Broadway with Tallulah Bankhead after she was discovered while studying acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Art. This success led to a number of Broadway shows including a two-year stint as Tevye's youngest daughter in Fiddler On The Roof with Zero Mostel; the Broadway stage version of The World of Henry Orient; and featured roles in Applause, Promises Promises, The Sound Of Music, Little Mary Sunshine, Funny Girl, Damn Yankees, Crazy for You and Dames At Sea. Pia also appeared on television in The Nurses, The Defenders, Ed Sullivan, and The Perry Como Show. Later she appeared in the feature films with Orson Welles in The Lonely Lady, with Stacy Keach in Butterfly, Hairspray and Naked Gun 33 1/3rd: The Final Insult.

In 1985, Zadora launched a successful music career with her first standards album, "Pia & Phil", recorded with the London Philharmonic. Zadora then embarked on a worldwide tour performing at Carnegie Hall, The Philadelphia Academy of Music, The Kennedy Center, Radio City Music Hall and The London Palladium, as well as with symphonies throughout the United States and Canada.

Zadora has worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bob Hope, Don Rickles, Bobby Vinton, Milton Berle, George Burns and Neil Sedaka.

Zadora recently performed her show titled PIA ZADORA: BACK AGAIN AND STANDING TALL at the Metropolitan Room this February.
