In celebration of Southern Nevada residents' tremendous accomplishment in creating their own world-class performing arts complex, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts welcomes community members to attend its 5th Anniversary Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7.

Reflecting The Smith Center's benchmark opening night on March 10, 2012 that featured a lineup of Broadway stars, this event will showcase performances by Broadway's finest, as well as special appearances by a few surprise guests as they relive The Smith Center's proudest moments.

The cast will include Broadway veterans Adam Kantor, hailed for his lead roles in "Rent," and "Fiddler on the Roof" and Betsy Wolfe, who has starred in shows including "Bullets Over Broadway" and "Falsettos" as emcees. Keith Thompson will be taking the helm as musical director andlead conductor.

"Since we opened our doors, community members have welcomed The Smith Center into their lives in so many ways," said MyRon Martin, CEO. "Whether we're inspiring students with matinee performances and other arts education experiences, or helping community members share meaningful moments at shows and special events, we take great pleasure in serving as Las Vegas' living room."

The Smith Center has tallied numerous achievements since opening to the public. With more than 2 million patrons walking through its doors, The Smith Center has presented a total of 1,856 performances through March 2017, including such renowned artists and groups as the Cleveland Orchestra, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Wynton Marsalis, Ringo Starr and many more.

The facility has also received numerous accolades, including being ranked among the top 10 theaters in the world by Pollstar magazine. In addition, The Smith Center has provided numerous education and outreach programs at no cost to schools. These include offering special matinee performances for 348,100 students and teachers; providing in-school performances for 86,277 students and educators; and presenting professional development sessions for 5,650 teachers.
