Celebrating their 50th anniversary, The Four Preps will bring new energy to great oldies when they harmonize on America's favorite pop hits in The Soundtrack of Our Lives at the Suncoast Showroom, October 10 and 11.

Audiences will experience the hand-clapping, foot-stomping celebration of all the great vocal group oldies when The Four Preps, featuring co-founder and original lead singer Bruce Belland, take the stage. Joining Belland are Bob Duncan, former leader of The Diamonds and The Crew Cuts; baritone Joe Dickey, who was lead performer in the smash Las Vegas production of Hallelujah Hollywood; and Skip Taylor, the group's youngest, affectionately known as "the baby bass."

The concert will include such classics as "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," "Earth Angel," "Whispering Bells" and "Unchained Melody," plus The Four Preps' own top hits, including "26 Miles," "Big Man," "Lazy Summer Night" and "Down by the Station."

The legendary Dick Clark said of The Four Preps, "Their energy and enthusiasm guarantee a great time...every time." It's a story that dates back to 1955, when Belland enlisted three fellow members of the school choir, Glen Larson, Ed Cobb and Marvin Ingram, to form a quartet and try out for the annual Hollywood High School talent show. Calling themselves "The Four Preps," the group was a hit at school and beyond, as Voyle Gilmore, legendary Capitol Records producer of such stars as Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra, signed The Four Preps to a recording contract after hearing them. At the time, the group was the youngest act to ever sign with a major record label.

A string of success followed, and The Four Preps had their first million-selling hit, "26 Miles," in 1958. They were featured in Life magazine and appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and American Bandstand, but their superstar status was confirmed when they co-starred in the first Gidget movie with Sandra Dee. In 1958, Billboard magazine honored The Four Preps as "newcomer of the year" and then for three consecutive years in the 1960s as "the nation's number one concert attraction."

After 13 success-filled years, The Four Preps' original members disbanded to pursue individual careers. The rejuvenated version of The Four Preps, still featuring original lead singer Bruce Belland, now tours the world and continues to entertain sell-out crowds.

Tickets are now available starting from $19.95, plus tax. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.636.7075 or visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.
